The verdict of Pak court in Jagjit Kaur case has hurt the Sikh sentiments all across the globe & this in a way has been an eye opener for lot of people who have their heads buried in sand. Sikhs in India have repeatedly called out Pak policies of converting Sikh girls.
The pics of Lawyer celebrating the victory in Jagjit Kaur case hurt Sikh sentiment because they draw parallels in bitter history of Sikh-Muslim relationships. While Sikhs stand with Muslims & try to move on, it appears that Muslims in Pak love to carry forward Mughal principles
It will surprise you to know that Jagjit Kaur is the 210th girl (Hindi+Sikh) who has been forcibly converted to Islam. I have followed all the cases that didn’t even reach the courts. 78 girls were minor at the time of abduction & most of them stand divorced today with kids.
While Sikhs across the world are protesting against the Pak court’s verdict, Sikhs in Pakistan are also trying to muster strength to challenge the decision. Sikhs gathered in Nankana Sahib earlier today to chart the future course of action in this case.
Calling spade a spade should not make one islamophobe & Sikhs need no certificates to prove that they stand anti hate, while we make our positions strong in being anti hate it is also necessary to make stand clear against bigotry & oppression.

I’m quoting further details here
1. There are 84 Sikh Gurdwaras in Pakistan out of which only 12 are functional, all other Gurdwaras are used by Pak govt as schools, parking lots, cow sheds etc etc.

2. ETBP plays a dual game of auctioning the Gurdwaras & not paying the dues to Sikh board. Just understand this-
ETPB has Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s 18000hectres Of land out of which 1600 is on Indian side. The land is used by ETPB for private auctions & not a penny is paid to Sikhs or used for restoration of Sikh shrines.
3. Sikhs had to protest to be included in National census of Pakistan in 2017. And after lot of protests & international shaming they were included as separate religion, but the numbers of Sikhs were never released fearing the drop in numbers due to conversion & exodus.
4. An anti-minority atmosphere pervades the entire country and is highly toxic. Radesh Singh Tony, a Sikh leader who had been at the forefront of taking up cudgels for minority rights, fled Peshawar for Lahore after he was threatened by armed men. He was local councillor.
Facing threats to his life, Tony made an appeal on Twitter to Sikhs outside Pakistan to help him and his family move out of the country. Later he deleted his account. He also made a video, speaking out about assassination threats to his family.
One such tweet reads: "I am getting assassination threats from Pak hardliners. The life of my family is in danger Living in Pakistan is very dangerous for my family ?? please please extend me help/refuge any further delay would cause serious troubles for my family”
Tony was lucky that he escaped. Another prominent Sikh leader Charnjit Singh was shot dead by motorcycle-riding gunmen in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 2018. He had been working on inter-faith harmony and was a known critic of the Taliban.
It can thus be concluded that Pakistan’s policy to woo Sikhs with selective PR activity around Sikh Shrines is hollow & is solely for political purposes with no action on ground.

What are the possible solutions?

It is very naive to suggest that Sikhs should come to India.
Not all of them want to come to india. Things are very unlike Afghanistan. Sikhs in Pak are at the mercy of majority community that promotes soft oppression, ie- 1 good thing for one bad thing policy.

One has to understand Pak claims of being tolerant stand cuz of Sikhs.
Imran Khan govt has in its tenure tried to appease minorities which hasn’t gone very well with radicals and hence you see cases like Shaheed Gunj which are mere reactions to State Policy gone wrong. You can draw comparisons with India if you wish. I leave that to you here.
The heart of the matter is that Sikh community needs to see the issue rising above the lines of ‘being Indian’, ‘being Diasporic’ or ‘being Pakistani’. One has to acknowledge that at end of day, entire Sikh qaum stands under one Nishan & its time to protect that Nishan.
