*THREAD* Lots of conversation in recent days & weeks about #Covid19 & it’s impact. Frustrates me that sometimes the conversation is too narrow & is about just “reopening” our country. We need to do more than that, we need to reimagine & rebuild our country & society
Covid didn’t create inequality but it has shone a very strong light on it. It has surfaced many issues that we need to address. @UN has spoken on this. Out of this pandemic must come some good. A re-evaluation of what is important in life & how we measure national wellbeing
We need that conversation about the country we want to live in, how we tackle inequality & as we rebuild our country how we put the opportunities in place to ensure individuals can rebuild their lives. I am trying to assist with this through my work on new career pathways
We have so much to do but let’s not limit the conversation. Often out of times of huge challenge comes progressive change & better policy. We can decide to be daunted by the scale or we can embrace it, tackle it & address the issues. Lots to do but, together, we can do it
