There will be some very able pupils who attend weaker schools who are hard done by and I very much hope the appeals process picks up these cases but overall this system does not disadvantage poorer pupils vs normal exams.
To illustrate the point as this table shows poorer pupils (low SES) were slightly more likely to be downgraded but also did better than last year and their increase for last year is bigger than for richer pupils (high SES).
