10 TIPS FOR GOOD CONTENT WRITING (Part 1)

I've been a Freelance content writer for about 15 months, and I've written over 250 articles for many clients.

I work indirectly for a top Freelancer that gets most of these clients.

I still have a lot to learn but I can say these:
1. Do Your Research

You won't know everything you need to write about a topic without doing a good research. Some topics take away the luxury of creativity. You need to deliver a good contents with TRUE FACTS. I spend more time here than anywhere.
Sometimes, once I'm done with my research, I go to bed. The job is half done.* Use Google and YouTube, and open that second page. Sometimes, good information are hidden in poorly optimized pages.

I'll teach you how to research some other time.
2. Make an Outline and Distribute the Word Count.

If you're writing 1000 words, make an outline of topics and sub topics and estimate how many words you'll write in each section.
3. Write in Active Voice (Short Sentences)

One thing that makes a writing weak or bad is TOO MUCH PASSIVE VOICE.
Simple examples:

The dog chased the kids. (Active Voice)

The kids were chased by the dog. (Passive Voice)
The helping verbs "were" and "by" are unnecessary.
This is the secret of active voice writing: SUBJECT-VERB-OBJECT.

Who is doing the action? Dog (subject). What is it doing? Chasing (Verb). Who is it chasing? Kids (object).
4. Use Short Paragraphs.

100-150 words...

4-6 lines...

Tip:
Focus each paragraph on one issue. Maximum two.
5. Use Bullets

Using many Comma punctuation marks will make your writing clumsy. It will also make you write many "hard-to-read" and "very-hard-to-read" sentences.
Use Bullets! Make lists especially when the items you're mentioning are COMPOUND NOUNS or ADJECTIVES in your list.
Instead of doing something like this when you have a long list...
Mary and John, Holland and Spain, Dog and Cat, etc... Just use bullets to make a list. Also, instead of red short skirt, big blue bag, hot milk-filled tea, etc... Use bullets.
Tip: Using bullets help you meet your word count target too because you can elaborate on each small topic.
