Here is a thread for #loststock ppl who maybe need to know a bit more about clothing supply chains. If you don't believe me, do some of your own research

1. The price brands pay at the factory is only very vaguely related to the final RRP.
2. Generally speaking the price you pay in a factory is related to volume and/or speed. The more you want, the lower the price.

It is entirely possible to get the same thing from the same factory for completely different prices.
3. But #loststock is about overstock - and the usual rules of buying go out the window. The price paid is a negotiation - the result of the price the factory (or more likely the middleman) wants and how desperate he is to clear it.
4. Big brands may well use a range of factories, who may themselves subcontract to other factories. So something can both be overstock whilst also be available in a shop #loststock
5. Plus some brands *only* sell overstock. So if there is a lot of unsold branded things around, they may buy, relabel and sell it themselves. #loststock
6. I don't know how #loststock works - to be honest, I had not heard of them before this.

But it sounds to be like the factories wanted cash for the product. Hence the whole thing of payment months in advance
7. It also sounds like they had stock flown in, which adds considerably to the logistics costs. Plus the inevitable delays and fees #loststock
8. Also they relabelled and resorted a lot of stock, which isn't a trivial job. #loststock
9. So my guess is a) they didn't pay the lowest prices because they were not buying in massive bulk b) factories told them some unrealistic RRPs c) they underestimated the logistics cost and challenge #loststock
10. I'm sure it was not a perfect operation. I'm sure mistakes were made. But the costs look reasonable. They are not making £millions from this.

They don't deserve the ranting. Let them sort problems out. #loststock
11. Ultimately you blindly bought a box of clothing you knew you might not like. If you bought it expecting to be able to sell on eBay for more than you paid, then you are the problem here. #loststock.
