It’s hard to put into words how frustrating an opinion this is. My entire life I have been put into a box as the “sports only” guy and to see this tweet come out from a classmate and to be validated by colleagues is actually pretty hurtful https://twitter.com/uhhbeer/status/1293709095271358466">https://twitter.com/uhhbeer/s...
Regularly in this program I have had to defend my right to be in it to students and even professors just because I am pursuing a career in sports. On multiple occasions people have questioned to my face why I am even there because sports isn’t a valid form of journalism to them
I understand we may not necessarily cover the same issues or fight for similar things but as common members of the journalism community it is absurdly frustrating to time and again have to validate why sports matters
I love sports, they’re my greatest passion. They matter more to me than anything else. I shouldn’t have to prove the existence of other forms of my personality to you. Sports people in our program are the only ones treated like this and I’m frankly sick and tired of it
