Who is Soshangane?

Soshangane was born in 1780 in Nongoma KwaZulu.
His grand Father was Gaza that is why Mozambique named their province Gaza.
In South Africa that is why Dr Ntsanwisi named the Tsonga land Gazankulu. His big cousin was Ndandwe

After King Shaka defeated Ndandwe in 1818 Soshangane went into hiding and joined the Tsonga people in Mozambique and some parts in Limpopo.

His really name was Manankosi Nxumalo. Soshangane taught the Tsonga people to fight. In Save river the Valoyi and Chauke family refused to speak Soshangane's language they taught him to speak Xitsonga, eventually married a Tsonga women.

He became the King of Tsonga people but his Grandson Nghunghunyane became a Chief because he never ruled all Tsongas that is why the language was not part of Nguni but inside there is Nguni people.

Old historian says Soshangane used to call himself "Mina ngiyi Shiyangane" because he abandoned his children in KwaZulu.

Soshangane became the king he forgot about his children in KwaZulu, Like Papa Penny "La phinda iShangane la phinda iShangane".

The word Shangaan started when ancestors went to work in the mines in Johannesburg and left children at home. The City of Gold Mine owners wanted to know:
Who are they?
Who is their King?
"Their king was Soshangane"
The Zulus said "Ooh amaShangane labantu".

The Tsonga said "Vanhu lava iMaZula" .
The Sothos said their king was Moshoeshoe that is why we call them Mashweshwe or Bashweshwe.
So this is where those niknames started.

With these Surnames we slaughter animals to call our ancestors because we are one blood one family.
