People need to remember what's been going on here in PDX, and that there are black leaders here who have specifically given them permission, even as white people, to stand up and take the megaphone away from someone who is actively speaking against PDX's interests.
I love Demetria, but she can't be the only person who stands up for PDX from one night to the next. She showed up to SE last night after most people had already left just to scream at the cops some. She should not have to do all of this herself. If we are really her accomplices
then we need to stand up for what she told us to stand up for even when she's not there to give us explicit permission to take a megaphone away from some out of towner - regardless of the color of that out of towner's skin. I mean, you are actually all listening to the chants,
aren't you? They aren't just formulaic responses to some deep seated pep rally or fight song, they're the rallying cries of generations of BIPOC community members being beaten and killed in the streets just because of the color of their skin. We're here to stand up for them,
shoulder to shoulder - whether they're out there each individual night or not. Doesn't Demetria deserve a night where she doesn't have to whip people into shape? We're on night 76? 77? We should not still be falling for the swoop. We should not still be standing around waiting
for a powerful BIPOC community member to tell us what to do, or how to support them. We've had more than two months of direct, side by side action, we should know what to do by now. Stop listening to these out of town jackasses tell you all that you're doing it wrong, and
the next time they tell you you need to sit down and shut up, please, I beg of you, fix in your mind the image of Demetria dancing to "The Guillotine" with a giant black rubber dong, and tell them to fuck off.
