bought some shit i don’t need today
WASD Keyboard V2 with Cherry MX Blue switches and some weird blank blue/white keycaps as well as the original box, accessories and some extra dampening o-rings
boring but custom built beige MicroATX box from hard drives northwest (a popular OEM here in PNW), looks like a boring socket 478 pentium 4 with a boring ASUS motherboard but includes a free partially peeled megadeth sticker 🤘
512MB of Mushkin Enhanced PC3200 CAS2 RAM! so a little less boring than I imagined. wonder what CPU is under there..?
somehow forgot to attach the picture to the last tweet
guessing this is the first time the paste has seen light since it was installed, cleaned right up though. it is, of course, the 2.8GHz/800FSB SL79K http://www.cpu-world.com/sspec/SL/SL79K.html
previous owner robbed the hard drive(s) from it so ill have to supply my own. i actually very much like this case, it’s very easy to get into and NO FRONT DOOR! 👏
don’t think they’ll honor the warranty anymore 😔
computer the next! black and battered. no optical drive, no floppy, no HDD. at least the front panel covers are intact. inside, just a motherboard, PSU and a cheap GPU. im guessing Socket 775? board seems high end, might it be a C2E?? 😯
this 1GB 9400 suggests otherwise... 😬
absolutely confused by the high end motherboard but scrub tier CPU/GPU combo, fuck outta here
NEXT! your first computer, aka the Dell Dimension 4700. idc about this one just looking for parts to steal and will dump it off at a thrift store
ironically this piece of shit is the one that’s been taken the best care of, of course. anyone need an XP Home key or service tag? here ya go
spent more time than I care to admit failing to remove the heatsink before realizing there’s no way theres a CPU of value in here. stole the WiFi card and loose SATA cable. moving on
two more, these are going to get interesting
a battle damaged Lian Li PC-7 PLUS ATX tower. someone has scotch taped things to the top and just torn them off leaving the tape behind. lots of scratches unfortunately but hopefully will look alright when cleaned up. and that rear IO is looking promising
a beautiful ASUS P5B Deluxe, ridic TT Blue Orb II HSF, 4GB of Corsair 800MHz CAS4 RAM and an XFX 8800GTS which is certainly dead by now. definitely Socket 775, but RAM indicates CPU will disappoint. let’s find out..
just noticed the RAM is made up of two unique kits, though the specifications appear to be identical: it’s all 1GB 800MHz CAS4, the slightly more silver sticks appear to be a newer revision with a different SKU
its our old friend the E6600, the value kind of the day but wildly lackluster now. i bought a lot of 5 3.33GHz C2Qs for $10 on eBay awhile ago, I guess this would be a good candidate for an upgrade...
alright! last one, this is a Thermaltake Tsunami Dream tower with a lovely all aluminum front panel (and nothing else). I think TT has other higher end cases based on that panel but this isn’t one of them. from the rear IO i can see we are havening a probblom
what the fuck is this shit
and why would you use stock thermal paste on it???
Socket 940 (?? that’s new to me) its a pair of AMD Opteron 275s! these are dual-core CPUs running at 2.2GHz and cost around $1300 each at launch!
4x1GB DDR400 PC3200 ECC RAM ETC, IMHO
im floored — this is a killer system and I’m going to be very mad if I boot it up to find its floppy controller supports not only dual floppies but also 3.5” and 5.25” variants as i just finished assembling my monsterous new archival system on Socket 939 the other day! 😑
