Don't Use Groups just for RTs.
RTs are actually the last thing you should expect from an engagement group (EG)
Because if the content you are sending them doesn't line up with their timeline
Then they won't RT it because they want to be niche specific.

Get to know the people in your EG.
Comments are great but if you don't know much about the account you're commenting under
Then it won't do much to add value to their post.
Take you time to get to know people in your EG
This will instantaneously increase the value you comment

In your EGs, it is okay to make conversation!
You should either be friends with those in the group prior to making it
Or become friends as you all grow together.
This is crucial to being able to add value to their posts, and as they add value to yours.

NEVER MUTE THE EG!
Seriously, you might miss something important.
If you must mute it, let the crew know
And eventually turn them back on.
The entire point is to engage with them, so why would you turn them off?
Do not have them on mute and then expect engagement.

An EG is the one of the only exceptions for a Follow for Follow.
Seriously, if you are in an engagement group, you should all be mutually following each other
It makes no sense if you aren't.
This will help you see ALL of their posts and not just the ones they send to the EG.

Send 3-4/day to the EG for engagement.
Don't over do this
If you know they will like a Tweet, and will be more inclined to RT, send that Tweet
If it doesn't fit, don't ask for much other than a like and a comment -
(This gets better as you get to know each other!)

Make a List for the group!
This helps a ton with interacting with all of their posts, and not just the ones they send
You should be interacting with EG members as frequently as you can
And a list greatly increases this potential.
Don't sleep on Twitter Lists!

When making an engagement group, try and keep similar accounts in the group
If they are in the same niche, that helps
But if you know someone brings a different & helpful perspective
Include them.
If it is valuable and applicable across the board, then value is always value!

Engagement groups aren't cheating!
Lots of people use them, including myself
So do the big accounts you look up to.
BUT REMEMBER
Grow Independently
You don't want to solely rely on the EG -
Members might leave, the chat might die, they might leave Twitter.
Be prepared!

One last thing:
Do not take member's follower count into consideration.
Your goal is to:
1. Always like their posts
2. Comment on them as best as you can
3. Quote to add more value
4. RT to spread awareness (if it fits your TL)
Why does their follower count change this?

To wrap up, here's the re-cap:
1. Don't use them solely for RTs
2. Befriend EG members
3. Make conversation
4. NEVER MUTE THEM
5. Follow them all back
6. 3-4 Tweets/day in the EG
7. Make an EG List
8. Niche down the EG
9. Don't worry about follower count

If you've made it this far
Hit the Likes on the way up to the Top Tweet
And give that bad boy a nice RT
& a Like
Help spread the word so more people know that Engagement Groups are helpful and a great way to network!
Cheers
