Have been reading all the Ebola tweets. As someone who was part of the city of Dallas response to Ebola and close to someone who had it, I’d like to share a few thoughts.

1. Take a deep breath. Sen Harris isn’t comparing Ebola to covid, she’s comparing the responses.

2. Several of us were in touch regularly with the White House and TX governor’s office. Both were helpful. The key was that Obama/Biden took Ebola seriously, allowed medical authorities to lead the way and contact tracing was actually being conducted.

No, they are not apples to apples. But how each was handled - drastically different. African countries lost thousands of lives to Ebola. We never called it the “Sierra Leone” virus. That would have been cruel.

Leadership does matter. That much I can also attest to.
