Our city of Tampa, FL has seen a major decrease in protesters while the police & their supporters continue to show in numbers with agitators becoming more apparent. I (surely with others) fear if light is not shed on this, it will only get worse. /1
@JaneCastor has deliberately & whole heartedly ignored protesters and their demands by responding with an INCREASE to police funding by approximately $13 million dollars. Numerous times has she photo opped claiming to stand in solidarity with protesters.This is a facade. /2a
Recently, a mural was painted poorly depicting âBack The Blueâ behind the department downtown. The mural was not approved by permit. Yet 40 police sympathizers blocked this section of traffic for 4 hours. There was no action taken against them by @TampaPD /3a
When protesters attempted to paint a mural, not obstructing traffic, in Curtis Hixon Park, they were arrested. In addition to these unjust arrests where Miranda rights were not verbally executed, muralists have spoken out against abuse they experienced after being taken into custody. Protesters are being targeted, brutalized, and vilified by law enforcement. Tonight, the knee to neck submission was used. The same brutality that took George Floydâs life months ago.
