The history of Kanye’s scrapped and unreleased albums, a thread
The original The College Dropout seems to have been finished around 2003. However, the album leaked, causing Kanye to death and rework the album. Although TCD eventually released, the original version has some material that never officially came out.
There are 2 versions of Good Ass Job that are both seemingly scrapped. The first was planned to be the last of the Dropout series, but Kanye’s plans changed after the passing of his mother. GAJ was pushed to be his 5th album, but morphed into My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.
Good Ass Job was then announced as a collab between Chance and Kanye. Ye announced this on stage in 2018, so there may be some hope for the record to eventually come out.
Yeezus 2 was never officially announced by Kanye, but Rick Rubin, who worked on Yeezus in its final stages, mentioned that there may be one in the works. He likely meant that there was so much source material from the original, that a new album could be made from the leftovers.
So Help Me God was meant to be the follow up to Yeezus. Announced in 2015, Kanye was releasing singles for the album, such as All Day. Kanye even said the album was 80% done, with many leaks out to back that claim up.
Turbo Grafx 16 was announced immediately following the release of The Life Of Pablo. It seems that Kanye was going to use elements from video game music on the album. Leaks can be found that have an electronic sound to them, and there is a list of games Ye was going to sample.
Wolves was meant to be the collab album between Drake and Kanye. Teased a few times by Kanye himself, we never got concrete information about it. Given their relationship now, the album is likely gone forever.
Cruel Winter was the follow up to Cruel Summer. Many artists involved, such as Desiigner, have talked about working on the project, yet have not given any specifics. The album appears to have been completed, but scrapped for the time being.
Love Everyone was planned to be Kanye’s first 2018 album. He played it at TMZ, however his infamous outburst followed. Kanye scrapped the entire record and focus on an album about his mental health. Ye was put together in 3 weeks, with Love Everyone only existing in leaks.
There isn’t much information besides this one tweet, but I thought I’d include it. Kanye announced Watch The Throne 2 in 2018, and given his very recent tweets, he seems to be missing working with Jay-Z. Whether we’ll ever get a follow up is truly unknown.
Likely the most infamous of all scrapped Kanye albums, Yandhi, was announced for release in 2018. The album missed 2 deadlines, with no set date following. There was silence until Kanye announced Yandhi was gone, with Jesus Is King taking its place.
Announced shortly after JIK released, the album has yet to come out. A leaked tracklist exists, and Ye gave us an update on the West Day Ever. It’s unknown whether the album has merged into Donda, or if it’s been scrapped entirely.
