So this is gonna be a thread about Luther, his abuse and all the things about him since people still hate on him.

TW for Body dismorphia, selfharm, mentioned attempt of suicide, abuse, incest.

tried to add tags to tweets but it got quite entangled and hard to work around
Luther has a lot more abuse than people see on the outerlayer. A lot of the time, people take his valid abuse and turn it into jokes, whereas if it were the same for any of the other siblings then it would be anarchy in the fandom, he also gets heavily hated in the fandom for the
tw ! incest thing when it’s an two party issue, yes it’s disgusting and i’m fully aware of that, but Luther only seems to be the one getting hate for it - Not Allison when it’s canon in the comics she rumoured him AND her ex-husband (Patrick) to love her. I’m not saying the hate
should be geared toward Allison, because I truly love her, I’m just pointing out the hypocrosy. On another level, he is trying to fix that. He accepted that she had a husband, he acknowledges they’re siblings and hopefully, slowly but surely, he’s going to get over her in season3
Now onto the topic of Luthers abuse, the moon is a HEAVY part of his abuse. Like Klaus’s drug problem, yes people meme that but they don’t say he’s annoying for...

Luther died and was experimented on AGAINST HIS CONSENT to be made into a monster that he hated.
tw suicide & self harm

After all his siblings left, and Allison, Luther tried to actually end himself. Why? Because the family was ALL he knew. He turned into a beast that he hated and had terrible body issues, he hurt himself because he couldn’t stand it. Reggie couldn’t stand
the monster that he had created so he sent him to the moon - Literally just so he didn’t have to look at the mess that he had created.

He even treated Luther badly whilst on the moon, Luther was still under the impression that Reginald was good... but he was being starved on the
moon, he asked for more food from Reggie in his packages he sent down to earth that reginald NEVER OPENED. Imagine spending years of your life trying to do something you believe is right for nothing, only being ignored in a world of solitude.
I can understand why people hated Luther in the first season because of how he treated Vanya but can we take a second to see it from HIS pov? As an abused person who just wanted to do right and save the world?
Luthers world has ALWAYS been black and white - Theres the good and the bad and he’s been conditioned to hate and fight the bad. Anyone who threatens citizens and his family... finding out the powers Vanya had, he did what he thought he was right to protect people from her doing
harm. I don’t agree with it but there is valid reasoning behind his actions... Even in S2, he realised how wrong he was and apologised to her, doing everything possible to make it up to her even though she didn’t remember ANYTHING about the situation. Yes, he brought a gun to see
her, but do remember... last time they saw each other, she was in White Violin mode, had just blown up the moon and tried to kill him. He didn’t want to risk that again, and he realised it was partically his fault that all of that ended up happening.
I feel like people also forget the other siblings also hurt each other... Diego threw a knife at Klaus, Klaus continuously ignores and hurts Ben. Allison rumoured Vanya numerous times. Theyve all hurt each other, they’re siblings... they do that. If you’re gonna hold it against
one, why not hold hurting siblings against all of them? Also Luther has HUGE body issues; it’s clear that he hates his body... yet people make fun on it. If anyone else did, they wouldn’t make fun of them... they would be babied and defended, Luther never asked to be like that
tw // suicide

He was experimented on, he was embarrassed and had to become part gorilla against his actual consent... to save his life... which he didn’t want to live after that. He was empty and alone when he went to space and didn’t want to live anymore
Reginald dying was his last chance of trying to right things, Reginald shamed Luther for things HE DID and pushed him away so he didn’t have to see it. Luther was conditioned to be “The best child” therefore doing everything he thought possible to regain Reginald’s trust
He didn’t want to leave because the Academy was all he knew, whilst the others went off and discovered the world and realised it wasn’t all black and white. It took him a while, the time he spent in the 60’s, to realise the truth of the world. The harsh reality. Sometimes it
takes a lot for a person to admit their flaws and their mistakes, Luther admitted it in the moment when meeting Vanya again. He truly regretted it and saw Reginald for the monster that he was... and hated him for it. It may have been annoying but he didn’t have the same time to
hate reginald as the others did - They hated him forever... Luther saw him as God until he was able to leave, which wasn’t until a week before they went to the 60s. I’m probably very repetitive and i’m aware - I’ll happily continue to add to this thread to make sure
i get all things accurate + added things i’ve forgotten bc luther is a comfort character to me in ways, and how ppl reacted in s1 made me ashamed. seeing him try to be a better person and still get knocked down is hard to see.
