Just found an amazing Nietzsche reference in #BatmanVSuperman.
In this scene we have Bruce staring into the suit's dark, empty eyes: the suit, though, is not treated just as a suit. It's treated as a character, as Batman himself.
They exchange looks..and Bruce doesn't blink once.
This is a clear reference to Nietzsche's Beyond Good and Evil, that reads like this:

"Beware that, when fighting monsters, you yourself do not become a monster...for when you gaze long into the abyss. The abyss gazes also into you."

Bruce is literally staring into the abyss.
I feel like this is one of the many reasons why I'll never understand the "style over substance" criticism against Snyder. This 15 seconds scene has no dialogue, no action and yet it tells EVERYTHING that we need to know about this Batman.
It's peak visual storytelling.
Also, scenes like these always confirm my feeling that @BenAffleck's role in BvS is his best performance ever. The charisma, the hubris, the atonement he shows are incredible.

@larryfong can I ask something about this scene? How did you manage to maintain this extremely powerful mirroring of their stares?
It's magnetic and terrifying, almost feels like we shouldn't look at it to avoid falling into the void ourselves.
It's the perfect Batman shot!
