I am only but 1 person. Still looking for where I best could work, make enough $$ to support myself better, & help ensure that we all are able to co-exist together in peace, partnership, & ❤️ regardless of our differences so no, I'm not perfect but also not accepting "less than."
Being in the #PeoplesParty is going to mean a lot to me. A whole lot because as a Black progressive/leftist who is also a millennial, intersectional feminist, & atheist-humanist, I am tired of being hit with vitriol about my blackness, womanhood, sociopolitics, & generation.
In potentially growing to be some sort of leader, I know that my imperfect past is going to come back to haunt me. I once was sleep. I once thought that those who were evangelized & proselytized to me as "good" were actually that until I got full blown hit with true colors.
I am not someone who has cognitive dissonance & confirmation bias. When I am hit w/ new information & evidence, I really take all of that in. I really process it all. I don't just go along w/ whatever I am told or pressured to. I know that upsets a lot of people but it's just me.
Maybe I am a "budding activist." Maybe I am a "budding politician." I don't know. I am a self-proclaimed political junkie & spectator but I do know that this Duopoly needs to die. The Republican AND Democratic Parties need to be abolished. We have been damaged & wounded enough.
Too many Black people have died because of BOTH the Democratic AND Republican Parties. I've been seeing a lot of rhetoric around the "dilemma of activists in these elections." My response? What "dilemma?" You either vote for the Duopoly or not. There's no in-between in that.
If you choose the Duopoly as an activist, then you choose what you claim to be "fighting against." This is not a question. This is fact & proven. You can stop picking the poison & toxicity that your work is supposed to be fighting against but you keep deciding to feed your enemy.
What's the point of being a "Black activist," for example, but voting for what your work is supposed to be ending? I just.. do not... see... the... point. Both the Republicans & Democrats are profiting off of your lobbying in one form or another, not you as an activist. Tbh.
Wonder why there are no "rich activists?" Wonder why activism work does not "make you rich?" Ever wonder why most grassroots activists have been known to barely pay their bills & figure that only "becoming a politician" is their escape route to a "pot of gold?" I mean, think.
Now, the whole "rise of the celebrity activist" has taken away from what the grassroots is supposed to be about. Having the greatest voice & leadership to really & truly galvanize the ppl to push in unity & coalition for actual systemic change. Putting "celebrity" in fucks it up.
I get that popularity comes w/ leadership. I'm not naive about that. If you are doing something great as an activist, it may spread out like wildfire & magnetize so many opportunities, ppl wanting to help you, etc. but this is where egos have to be checked. Self-analysis is king.
As an activist, do you want systemic change for the greatest good or do you want to be "famous?" Do you want systemic change or do you just want the "brand?" I'm not saying to remain poor. Not at all but really think about who you are at your core. What do you want to represent?
All elections have been are an "illusion of choice." This skipped CD of "Republican-Democrat-Republican-Democrat" & this shit has gotten our nation absolutely nowhere. I'm on repeat. "Replacing Trump" is not "replacing a broken system." It's adding to disease, not curing it.
The #DemocraticParty has made themselves crystal clear & I, for one, am not going to ignore that. Message: "Drop dead, progressives/leftists. We're Republican Lite. Behind closed doors, we love the Republicans so deal w/ that." Heard loud & clear, #DNC, #KHive, #BlueMaga. Heard.
To @TheDemocrats, our progressive/leftist votes do not matter. In fact, I was told on FB by #BlueMaga that " #Biden can win without the progressive vote." Think I'm not going to listen to that? You're crazy. My hearing is quite good. I'm constantly told that my "vote is a waste."
If you're an activist for voting rights, registration, & all but voters are told that "their votes are a waste," do you understand how much that undermines & disrespects your hard work? When you vote for the Duopoly, you're proven in going against what you claim to "fight for."
So let me end this latest rant w/ this... Bc again, I like educating & informing ppl. A campaign's winning strategy should never be "sociopolitically suppressing the vote." I mean, the gov't is already trying to do it (ie: USPS) but you want to add to that w/ vitriol? Seriously?!
You cannot "ask me to vote" on the 1 hand & then when I do, say that my "vote is a waste." There's a disconnect there that I'm not going to "simply ignore." I don't care who you are or what your "title" is. Don't care about your "protest résumé" or whatever. That's not "winning."
