Say what you will about the Robinhood and the prevalence of fintech bros that leverage the platform, but this rebrand and design system by @wearecollins raises the bar. It breaks typical digital interface tropes and pushes illustrative boundaries for a mass market product. https://twitter.com/Upskydown/status/1293681667538857985
The same can be said of @pitch and @figma which have introduced visual styles that are recognizable outside of the platform, even if presented without context. Each company has defined visual systems that, to their credit, have shaped popular design trends of the last 2-3 years.
I’d even argue that when Pitch was initially teases, it jump-started the craze for 3D character design within brand systems. Soon after we saw entire ad campaigns shaped around a similar aesthetic (eg Taskrabbit) and most recently with Facebook Portal.
If your rebrand or original brand is responsible for a paradigm shift, that is far more rewarding than any design accolade, in my opinion. Unfortunate we focus more intently on gold pencils on studio shelves.
