So many conspiracy theories are the result of thinking that chaos and disaster must be PLANNED, because then you can do something about it, instead of complex systems and uncontrollable chance just fucking with your life whenever they feel like it.
If there's a bad guy, you can oppose the bad guy! You can be the Avengers! But there's no Thanos in reality.
The universe doesn't care about us, so we need to care about each other. Justice doesn't exist as a substance, but as a process we engage in.
It is so, so tempting to believe that if you can just find the person who's making all the bad stuff happen and take them out, you can save the world and get a parade. I honestly get it. But that's not what's happening.
Anyway, information literacy is an incredibly valuable skill, please apply skepticism to all sources, don't share something unless you know where it came from, and be prepared to own up when you've made a mistake.
PS, to any theorists who got down this far: I know you're scared. It's okay to be scared. But this won't help you deal with either the fear or what's causing it.
