We not only have to abolish capitalism, we have to do it in such a way that a global effort to reverse the effects of climate devastation can be coordinated and implemented immediately and on a scale larger than any human endeavor we’ve seen short of world wars.
We’re way past the point of simply being able to reduce carbon emissions, and CO2 pollution is just one of a thousand urgent and dire ways in which we’re making the planet unlivable. Microplastics and “forever chemicals” pollution, deforestation, water shortages, etc.
This is all to say that the revolution must be *organized*. It must have the ability to take control in the aftermath and actually accomplish things on scales only governments have ever been able to achieve. Decentralized communes or whatever are not sufficient to the task.
Demanding communism overnight when capitalism almost just killed us all will not be constructive in cleaning up the mess they left.
Fortunately the only successful revolutions will already be organized, as any study of modern history shows.
