I’ve been on a journey for the last while to heal from my dysfunctional upbringing in a world that demanded certain things of me because I am female and put limitations on me for the same reasons. This world controlled me through emotional and spiritual abuse.
And today on my COVID mental health walk that I’ve mandated for myself, I listened to Kit’s latest @unchurchablepod episode with Cait.
And though my story is different from Cait’s (and Kit’s), as I listened to her experience I felt it resonate with me on a deep level.
And I began to cry and let myself feel some of the grief I’ve buried for so long.

Cait deserved better from the church. Kit deserved better. I deserved better.
We all deserved nurturing homes and spiritual environments that taught us to thrive. Not these devastating stories that we all share as cautionary tales and we need to heal from.

This is why the church needs feminism: As long as girls and women are being oppressed so that men may be served and glorified, we need feminist men and women to come along and call it out as sin it is.
We can’t let another generation of girls grow up subservient to men.
