Local public health authorities in Tarrant Co., TX, gave schools five key metrics for safe re-opening of schools, in person.

County data shows that as of today, they have all been met.
1) 7-day avg. of people testing positive should be 10% or less. As of Sunday, latest day of data, it’s at 10%.
2) Rate of cases needs to be less than 2,000 per week. Week of July 26: 1,898. Week of Aug. 2: 1,231. 7-day avg: 1,601
3) Four weeks of data showing stable or declining case counts. Tarrant is on week 5 for that.
4) 7-day avg of people with covid-like illness trending lower for 2-weeks. It’s down now for last 4 weeks.
5) % of hospital beds with covid patients, at or below 10%. It’s now at 8%.
Last metric is for schools/districts to present a plan for re-opening, with elements included in the guide from public health.
And health authorities do include this note on their metrics:

"*These criteria may be adjusted as information about the pandemic evolves."
One more for this thread. Officials note ideal positivity rate is less than 5%. Lot of talk about that rate lately, how it& #39;s affected by testing numbers. In TarCo, avg rate has never been less than 5%. Only made it to 5% for 2 days, during first 10 days of testing in March.
