In Switzerland, we had an asylum seeker in the team. From Eritrea, He took a few months to learn French and English. Not once did he ever mention money or anything.

He only ever spoke of wanting to have a safe home and a chance in life.
After maybe 6 months, he told his story

He had been kidnapped in Eritrea, beaten and tortured. He eventually managed with a friend to get away with some money to flee Eritrea and enough cash to get to London.

His friend stole all the money they had then abandoned him, so he went to get asylum and help. He was put up in a hostel with many others but eventually was to be deported. Switzerland took him and placed him into a safe housing area with otter asylum seekers.

Was his motivation “get £46 a week and live in extreme poverty?”
No. It was “leave here or die”

99% of these people have fled a life unimaginable to anyone from a western society.

It absolutely sickens me to see people who have a chance in life try to block these people

Simply because they got lucky in the birthplace lottery.

If you are one of these people who is against people fleeing war and poverty, willing to risk their life to have a ‘normal life’ in a foreign country because they get £46 a week of taxpayer money

Then unfollow me as I have no time for anyone who thinks these people are coming to take your job and steal money from a (pretty uncaring about anyone) social security system.

They are not doing anything we would not do in the same situation.
