If you were going to make such a drastic change in the Doctor, it should have been because there was an actual creative reason for it. Not because of trendy Twitter hashtags or Faux-Feminsm. I say Faux because real Feminists would want to see an original female character 2/7

They could have created a new female Time Lord and given her a spin-off or even used an existing character like the Doctor's daughter, Jenny. Why not expand on the wonderful legacy of this show? There were so many possibilities that would have pleased fans of all genders/ages 3/7

A major issue is also the poor execution under Chibnall. He made a risky creative choice but he didn't have the production and writing skills to pull it off. He's good at writing dramas but he obviously doesn't specialize in Sci-fi, which is why he wasn't a good fit for DW 4/7

Jodie Whittaker isn't a terrible actor either. As a supporting character in Chibnall's Broadchurch, she was ok. The Doctor requires a higher caliber actor though. If we had Olivia Coleman with Russell T Davies writing/producing, perhaps this experiment may have fared better 5/7

You also have to look at this from a business perspective. There are fans of this franchise ranging from 10 years old to 80 years old. Many of them male. These fans buy merch, audio adventures, convention tickets etc. They have kept this franchise alive. 6/7

Finally, if the Chibnall/Jodie experiment was so successful, why have the ratings declined so drastically? When a 57 year old franchise continues to lose so much of its fanbase, it's clear that the producers don't understand the fans or what made this franchise a landmark. 7/7
