Apparently NZ needs 50-odd people a year to fly in and drive combine harvestors - can we not train 50 people IN NEW ZEALAND - what's wrong with us??? (Plus, isn't that actually a food security risk???) https://twitter.com/NZStuff/status/1293595747057729543
Plus, to the man on RNZ rural report who said if they use local people they'll crash into things - well they will IF YOU DON'T TRAIN THEM - those people you're bringing in from the UK and Ireland - they would've crashed into things too before they were trained
It would be much better investment to bring someone in from the UK/Ireland specifically to train NZers - and honestly, I'm kind of outraged that farmers get away with NOT TRAINING ANYONE for a skill that's essential to our food production
