Ok. I'm gonna come out and say it. I think neural oscillations are the 2010s equivalent of mirror neurons. Real, but not doing all the work people think they are. I'm willing to be convinced otherwise but the more I look the more confident I get that there's not much there.

Here's another way of expressing my doubt: pick any entrainment paradigm. In the middle of the entrainment at a random phase I say a word at 80 dB. Listener comprehends every time. What are the mechanisms that enable that entrainment override? Isn't that the real driver?
