Yeah, here I am angry on the internet about Amy Klobuchar again, but — I sincerely hope the results of last night encourage us as a progressive movement in Minnesota to not assume “powerful and popular incumbent” means “absolutely can never be challenged.”
If an incumbent isn’t using that power and popularity — the huge political capital they have — to take big risks, do bold things for the people they represent, then that is exactly why they must be challenged.
Anyway. As I’ve said, my loyalty has always been more with people’s organizations, with my values and the issues I care about, than ever with a party. As a DFL state convention delegate in 2018, being in a room full of people who apparently liked Klobuchar a lot was deeply weird.
