people who aren’t in touch with their emotions nor honor them will call you sensitive when you show valid emotions in certain situations. don’t reject it, being sensitive in certain situations shows you have boundaries and empathy.
it is okay to feel. i started to say, “yes i am sensitive about this topic so maybe ask me why i felt this way” instead of denying my emotions and gaslighting myself because the person failed to see how they hurt me.
and the whole time, the ones calling you sensitive are sensitive themselves but unlike you they don’t know how to handle that. they had no one to tell them, “hey it’s okay to feel that way.”
if you have the patience and if that person isn’t abusive, definitely help them see that showing emotions aren’t a bad thing. it isn’t something to mock.
