Talking to colleagues on front line - I’m now convinced that the national test & trace system has become an obstacle to controlling the pandemic & opening the economy. If local teams had timely granular data they could nip outbreaks in bud. Without it whole town lockdowns

Worse, many senior people in @PHE_uk & @ADPHUK know this but are unwilling to speak out lest it “undermines public confidence”. But would they take the same view if a surgeon failed to speak out when things going wrong?
