Ryan Day: "I think we need to start this in the first week of January. That will allow players like Justin [Fields] the opportunity to play in the season and also prepare for the [NFL] draft." Says Fields wants to evaluate the spring plan before making a decision.
Ryan Day offering a lot of specifics on what he'd like to see with spring schedule: Start in January, eight-week season with postseason, allowing mid-year enrollees to be eligible. Says it would be a recruiting incentive for those players.
#Buckeyes Ryan Day on potential of players leaving for other leagues/teams: "I’m sure there are going to be schools who reach out to our players. We have great players. I don’t see how that would be possible or even safe to go play somewhere in three weeks."
Ryan Day on playing this fall somehow: "Gene [Smith] and I talked at length about this. We’re still exploring all those options. This thing is moving and changing. We are looking at everything." Has had no communication with Big Ten about what's possible.
Day says of the spring: "That was not a focus a few days ago. It is now." Says there are some models already in place for how a spring season could work.
