A Japanese artist saying "Western Twitter ruins everything" in response to an Uzaki redraw? Wow! This is a powerful takedown in the anime culture war!

Or...it might be.....if they were actually Japanese & not just using (incorrect!) Google translate

Wonder why you'd do that!
You'd think that if this westerner cared so much about the sanctity of Japanese culture they'd at least have known that in Japan, Twitter is just called...."Twitter" (Tsuita)

It's almost like they're appropriating Japan and the Japanese just to prove a meaningless point
You literally couldve just called the ugly art ugly; yeah, it doesnt look good, & more broadly the "sjw" backlash to Uzaki is dumb

BUT

The RESPONSE to that backlash has been so unbelievably outsized to it that it's impossible to look kindly or agreeably upon those engaged in it
The Uzaki backlash is a niche within a niche, a subset of a FEW thousand ppl from within the "particularly stuffy and sensitive to 'problematic content'" subset of "SJWs" are the only ones who give any amount of a fuck here; you don't need to launch a whole fucking holy war lol
Like, make no mistake, there is CONSTANT coverage of, videos on, and tweets about the Uzaki drama as a cynical ploy to enhance these ppl's perceptions that they and their interests are under threatening attack & that the "other side" are all absurd zealots who cant be reasoned w/
There was no western backlash to Uzaki UNTIL all this coverage started happening (there was, ironically enough however, a backlash from JAPANESE ppl), and putting it on ppl's radars, at which point, b/c of how high profile it became, the handful of weirdos who'd get mad found it
You can watch Shaun's vid on Doom, where he explores this exact same effect in previous action

The only thing I'd add is this dynamic of making the drama so high profile that a few genuinely dumb ppl do find the source of the drama and get genuinely mad
