A thread!

The popular theory that has established itself in the fandom is the possibility that pure titans consume humans to find a titan shifter and return back to a human. However in this thread we explore another possibility that could be just as reasonable.

As we know, the humans that arrive at paradis are all aware of the way titan powers are passed down due to them being living in Marleyan territory before being punished and sent to Paradis.

Implied by Ymir rememebring bits of her life as a pure titan, we know that the humans in the nape of their titans are semi conscious, hence for punished group to eat humans can be explained and understood with the popular theory.

However 1 pure titan that we know of had 0 knowledge of how titan powers are passed down: Eren's pure titan. The popular theory can be condridicted with this knowledge. Why did Eren eat Grisha when he wasnt even aware of the process?

This is where I bring in the purpose of the thread.

What if titans eat people because Ymir herself was eaten by her daughters? After all, much of how titans act is based off of her. They need titan spinal fluid to turn into titans because of that weird spine creature that leeched onto Ymir.

They need to eat another shifter to gain it's powers because that's how the power passed onto Ymir's children, and to transform into a titan they need to be harmed because Ymir was harmed when she received the power.
