During the flood of '08, I had a job interview for an online pub based out of NYC. I had no power, no internet. Had to go to a nearby town's Panera to take the call. The EIC scoffed at me when I explained what was happening. "I haven't seen it on the news."
To her credit, she called me the next day and apologized. But the #derecho storm is similar. It's devastated Iowa and this problem is compounded by the unchecked pandemic. No one is paying attention, besides all the incredible journalists on the ground.
