A tip for students and noobies looking for work:

Don’t advertise yourself as a “3D Artist”. Call out your specialisation.
If you don’t have a specialisation, focus on one discipline (and it’s peripherals, for example if you want to be a lighting artist, focus on lighting and materials) and level up your skills.
While there are 3D Generalist roles (especially in smaller studios) as a beginner you’re simply not going to have the experience necessary to cover all disciplines at a production ready level.
Starting your career with laser focus will give you the XP necessary to level up your skills across the board. And focusing on disciplines you most enjoy working in will give you the motivation to dive as deep as you need to in order to be competitive.
