I keep saying this too. A lot of people are wirried about fraud, but let me explain why, even though it will happen, it won’t flip the election… https://twitter.com/CObserving/status/1293528915739385857
It’s quite simple, really. There is a limited number of votes that can be cast in any election. I like to use a hypothetical precinct with 50,000 voters as an example (probably extremely high number for most precincts, even in dense cities, but we’ll go with it.)
If there are 50,000 *eligible* (registered) voters in that precinct, and 45,000 turn out to vote, that leaves only 5,000 possible stolen/fraudulent votes.
As soon as the party machines steals 5,001 votes, red flags start going off. When we get to 6,000 stolen votes, it gets very troublesome. At 10,000 votes, there will be investigations & lawsuits. No one wants a spotlight on that kind of corruption.
The problem they’ll have this year is that too many people are, and will be, completely pissed off. Out of 50,000 registered voters, most of them will show up to vote. there won’t be much room to cheat.
They’ll have voters who moved out of the state since the last election, & voters who have died. But put that against people who, where able, will show up & register on election day. It’s just too much to go up against & succeed with fraud.
And if you’re worried about fake voters being registered on election day, that’s a losing game too. What happens when someone shows up to register & vote, but an early ballot was already registered & cast in their name? Trouble!
Fraud is very real, and can be a big problem, but it only matters in close elections. If it’s not clise, they can’t cheat. It’s just not practical.
So if tou’re worried about voter fraud, the single most effective thing YOU can do, is get your ass to the polls ON ELECTION DAY, and VOTE!! It not only counts as a vote for the candidates you want, it denies the party machine a vote they can steal.
