I absolutely hate this kind of "parody" too where the whole joke is just trying to do a more extreme version of the bad thing you're mocking, because it's not actually a joke with set up and pay off, it's not even sarcastic dismissal, it's comedic indulgence

what it reminds me of most is something like Sharknado where it acts like adopting a wink wink nudge nudge tone about its own crapulence makes up for being a bad movie, like it wants to be as ironic fun as Goddamn Batman but that was funny by accident

At the same time it's gunning for self-depricating parody, like it's clearly making fun of its own dark edginess but again there's nothing really FUN about it it's just kinda gross, it's like a mid-2000s dead baby joke (yeah remember those?)

To me I think a good comparison is something like Always Sunny in Philadelphia, where they have a similar joke when the gang actually digs up Dennis' dead mom, only that joke came at the end of the episode and paid off several unrelated running gags

The joke wasn't JUST "corpse mom!" Which it basically is here, the joke was more about Frank planning an elaborate revenge prank that was super dark to prove he wasn't going senile and then still losing his shoes like at the start

The joke was ON Dee and Dennis and Frank, here the only person the joke is on is you, the audience, for being fool enough to buy and read a comic called Death Metal

It's self-parody, of that I'm almost positive, I just don't think it's very GOOD self-parody
