While I understand that Jason Dhakal is just criticizing a system that favors the privileged (and I totally get where he's coming from. I have many artist friends who, like him are trying to share their craft to the world.)
I don't think he is right to imply that Michael's craft is mediocre and "hindi pinaghirapan". Yes, he benefited from the system, but that doesn't discredit his talent, hard work, and potential.
How is this different fr when Will Smith's son, Jaden Smith, rose to fame because of his music? People even praised him for trying to make a name for himself and pursuing his passion. Michael is doing the same thing--pursuing his passion and tryin to get out of his dad’s shadow.
Also, I understand the craving for fame and recognition for one's craft especially when one puts a lot of work and effort into it but fame shouldn't be the only thing which art is all about!
LIKES, VIEWS, STREAMS, AND SUBSCRIBES DO NOT MEASURE TALENT AND QUALITY OF CRAFT! While fame and recognition are deserved, what drives art shouldn't be the desire for fame alone but rather passion,
heart, and the desire to express oneself. Artists should not measure the worth of their craft by the number of streams, views, or likes that their artwork get.
I'm not saying they should be okay with a system that does not reward their hard work. THEY HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO NOT BE OKAY. But it will NEVER be right to bring a fellow artist down.
