if there was a button which would make you switch places at random with any one of the 7.5 billion people on earth.... there is no way in hell you would press it
there are literally billions of people who are not as fortunate as most of us... no car, no phone, no house, no running water, no safe place to sleep, no peace, no food
unless you have considered fleeing your country by travelling for miles and miles, including crossing the busiest shipping channel in a tiny dinghy then its probably hard to understand how bad it can get
as a nation we could share with them, help them to start a new life here in a safer country, help them to build a career or build a business and learn to love and appreciate the world around them... free of war, free of famine, free of troubles
but no... choruses of “send em back” from people who mask their racism with the idea of a great nation being one that only looks after its own people, sad sad sad
of course, there are considerations which need to be made... but i could never understand how a country which actually has so much can be so inward looking, selfish and self-centred
