Over the last four years, we've been trying to keep this administration from taking us back to the 1920s & 1950s. When Biden wins, we'll be telling his administration not to take us back to the bad policies around policing during the 1990s. We're gonna keep organizing & fighting.
The terrain might be different on Jan 20, 2021, but we know we need a radical approach to climate crisis, Black and Brown folks will continue to catch hell, and Democrats will try to rehabilitate U.S. imperialism, which continues to be a threat to many abroad.
And, one of the lessons I've learned from all of the organizers I admire (and study), is that the type of change myself and many of my friends want is going to come from playing an extremely long game. The question that remains, unfortunately, is how much longer do we have.
I'm always down to stopping a particular form of authoritarianism. But stopping an overtly authoritarian administration is only one point along a long and non-linear journey toward a semblance of real freedom.
