a thread on dreaming and wanting
"we know what you& #39;re against, but what do you want? what are you for?"
here is an non-exhaustive, inconclusive list of what I want.
"we know what you& #39;re against, but what do you want? what are you for?"
here is an non-exhaustive, inconclusive list of what I want.
1. I want coffee but we just gave away our Keurig so I am settling for water. I am a Black queer woman in America so I am used to wanting something for myself and my community and being asked to settle.
I want to not have to settle.
I want to not have to settle.
2. I want to abolish prisons. I want us to stop relying on carceral systems. With abolition and divestment, I want increased funding for the communities most impacted. I want increased resources for those communities. I want reparations for those harmed by the system.
3. I want schools to be spaces of dreaming, joy, and liberatory learning for Black and Brown students. I want teachers to be adequately trained and compensated to support all learners. I want LGBTQ kids to be safe at school. I want counselors to replace cops in schools.
4. I want to live in a world where Black trans women only die of old age and natural causes.
5. I want us to make accountability part of support and love. I want to exist in a movement that normalizes accountability as a part of existing in community.
6. I want more books.
(thread paused) I& #39;ll be back later and continue to add. I have to go to work now.
