I do not like John MacArthur. Not as a person, and not as a “pastor”. This is not new news, but I do not count him among the brethren; he is racist, sexist, misogynistic and abusive (argue with someone else about this, I’ve already explained why, multiple times).
HOWEVER, he is, for one of the first times, being extremely consistent on what he’s always been saying—that the church gathering is necessary and that to not gather in a building, means you have some sort of defect in your faith.
He has, for as long as I’ve read and listened to him, taught that. He’s also now risking jail time for that very belief.

But here’s the thing, MOST of you condemning him for his decision, have ALWAYS taught and believed the exact same thing.
Furthermore, most of you, like him, have called people to repentance, wrote them off as non-Christians and called their very love for God unto question privately and publicly, for not attending a church building.
Y’all have repeated the phrase “you cannot be a Christian and not go to church” over and over and over and over again. Now, all of a sudden, “church is not a building, it’s the people of God.” The very thing y’all would condemn folks for saying.
I have seen many of you same people make a mockery of people who did not have a church home, now act like you’ve always believed you can love God and people from the house. AND, y’all have never been willing to risk anything for that belief, especially not jail time.
It’s one thing to say you were wrong, it’s one thing to say your thinking has changed, it’s even one thing to say you still believe that but don’t know what to do in light of the pandemic...
....it’s a whole other thing to mock this man for teaching and living out what you taught JUST before March—5 freaking months ago, yo! Y’all are not revolutionaries, y’all are hypocrites, and it’s time to own that.
MacArthur is wrong. But WE (yes, we, bc I believed and taught those things before, as well) were also wrong to condemn ppl for not attending a building. We know that that doesn’t mean the gathering of the saints is not important, but it’s obviously so much more complex than that.
Everyone should’ve been reaching out to, & loving on ppl that were watching church from home, online, all these years, instead we were calling them names/saying they weren’t concerned about ministry.

I see the hypocrisy and I call BS, but God sees ur hypocrisy and He calls sin.
