game of thrones has nothing on the complex characters of the dream smp. a thread.
tommy - the main protagonist. started off as an anti-hero who only cared about his own gain but blossomed into a courageous and selfless young hero who puts other's needs above his own. dies and sacrifices everything he has and everything he is to secure his friends' freedom.
dream - the main antagonist. incredibly sharp and you can't help but see the beauty and logic in his tyranny. no mercy for his enemies, but fiercely loyal to those he cares about and one has no other option but to respect that. protects well those he feels responsible for.
wilbur - the mentor. he's seen this all play out before. same narrative, different characters. guides the main protagonist along his journey from crime-doing anti-hero to selfless self-sacrificial hero. everyone looks to him for wisdom, the weight of the world is on his shoulders
tubbo - the main protagonist's most loyal friend. without him the entire endeavour would fall apart. he works quietly and without complaint in the background to make sure that the main protagonist can achieve their goals. never stopped supporting and never stopped doubting.
eret - the traitor. everyone's secret favourite until he falls victim to his own fatal flaw of greed. his actions rocks our heroes to their very core, they are shaken and never quite the same afterwards.
george - the main antagonist's weakest link. the antagonist seems to have a genuine soft spot for him, despite him having the makings and motivations of a possible traitor re: birthplace and ancestry. a tip to l'manberg: take down george, and the whole regime crumbles from within
sapnap - the main antagonist's most loyal follower. he is the one who sounded the alarm on the threat of the protagonists right at the beginning, when the rest were still laughing. fundamentally a good and smart man, but loyalty to the antagonist wins out over everything else.
i haven't watched enough of the dream smp to really make an accurate judgement on the rest. but if you're still here, please enlighten me with more.
