Short Thread:

If I do nothing in this life, I hope I at least influence the community I occupy for the better. Be it Twitter, law school, the legal field, friend group, and my family. I don’t care how grand the influence, as long as it is for the better. 1/
I’ve had a few people reach out to me recently. The message is the same, “I care.” That speaks more than those two words. As much as others may understand it I feel as if I have value. What a new experience for me. How sad it took 28 years and Twitter? 2/
Yet, is that really sad? Or was this just the medium it took for me to understand that it’s not always those who come over to grill burgers, have a beer, watch a game; it was those who proved it in actions. Those who, when you least expected it, let you know: “I care.” 3/
It feels placated when you’re struggling. Antiquated even. “Yeah everyone says they care when you’re at the edge.”

4/
Yet, what is really being said when they return to remind you that they care, is that you have value in that community. /end.
And ... no this isn’t a wide-eyes, “I got into this to help people.” I don’t care what your job is . . . Shouldn’t we shoot to make whatever circle we find ourselves better?
