Shu suffers badly from the Requiem Project and it results in him dying eventually, and when Daina comes to the Snake Pit and tries to save him, its all too late.
so Daina, who was born with a unique superpower he cannot control well, tries to

rest the timeline and go back to when Shu vanishes to try and find him. Each time, he fails again, and Shu dies in a different, painful way.
Daina eventually resets the timeline to when they met so they can have time to bond with each other before Shu dies, which is probably

unavoidable... but every time their timeline gets to the point Shu is about to die, Daina resets the timelime out of addiction and fear of losing Shu.
He does that every time, until he eventually manages to save him!
