How does pursuing a PhD in America differ from pursuing one in the UK?
Don’t want to sound biased but in the U.K. its a lot easy!
You can complete your PhD in any area of academic investigation within 3 years. In some very exceptional cases, you are required to go beyond 3 years
Is there any reason behind all this?
Yes, the British Universities do not want to tie up their MPhil / PhD Supervisors with one candidate for more than 3 -years.
In the UK, they have students flying in from all the world, and it's like a shopping mall, where customers and the businesses have to follow the => first come, first served principle.
Most of the Arabs(state-funded with the petrol -dollars, as assigned to their bank accounts in the form of grants) fly to the U.K. and get PhDs like buying toffees and candies from sweetmeat shop.
Arabs from oil-rich #sheikdoms use the fancy nomenclatures and degrees to go back and work in the public/ state-controlled sector(the 8.00 A to 2.00 PM signing and filing jobs).
Sorry, If I sound rude, but, the British PhD Experience is something as explained in the following three steps below=>
1. So, its like a production (process) factory, where there is standardized process control.
2. What goes in must come out from the End, within a defined period
3- An End - to - End Process => Going through the typical Statistical Process Control/s => Final Paper

All Charges Paid Product is ready to be served on the academic table: The British PhD for you!
In the USA it is more difficult to obtain your PhD! Minimum of 4 years and a maximum of 7! If you are exceptional at research, you can get your #PhD in 4 years in most of the fields.

Secondly, unlike the U.K., in the USA you have to complete courses and do a lot of theory!
Kindly note: In the U.K. most of the universities offer a Thesis Only #PhD!

They assume you have ample subject expertise and knowledge. Which is why they advertise to get your PhD IN 3 years!!!
I have heard that Canadian Universities and also some German Universities are far tougher when it comes to doing doctoral education!
In #Germany, it normally takes around 5- 6 years to get a #PhD in Finance/Economics (They say three on the program prospectus, but, I don't agree)
In Canada, a minimum of 5 years and a maximum of XYZ no of years!

Have never come across any #PhD from #Canada, who successfully completed his or her research in 3 -4 years!
So the theoretical work required during the PhD stands out as the main difference among doctoral research programs per se.

But there is a lot of going on behind doors!
