A thread about our monasteries in England
Benedictine monasteries are independent.
Each community is different. We apply the Rule of St Benedict in different ways.
This is very important for us because we take a Vow of Stability to our particular community

In England there are 9 Benedictine monasteries for Roman Catholic women that I will say a bit about.
There are also monasteries for monks and Anglican Communities.
Perhaps @SrJessica_nOSB @DownsideMonks would like to say more about them?

Colwich Abbey in Staffordshire is a small community who sing the Divine Office mostly in English.
They are part of the English Benedictine Congregation (EBC)
I visited there before I became a nun and they are a lovely community.

Also part of the EBC is Stanbrook Abbey.
In 2009 they moved to Yorkshire and have built a new monastery.
There are some beautiful pictures from the Guardian

The 3rd women's monastery part of the EBC is Curzon Park, Chester.
I have never been there or met any of their nuns but there is a lovely picture on the EBC website of a Sister playing the zither.

St Cecilia's, Ryde on the Isle of Wight is a large community.
They are strictly enclosed and sing the Divine Office wholly in Latin Gregorian Chant.
They have a beautiful website
