Out on an early walk doing some thinking about reading. People often ask me how I read so much so a short thread.
1. I've gone through peaks and troughs in my reading over the years. Dont feel guilty for the times in your life when other things take over. (1)
However, if you do want to read more you need to make its priority. I'm sure not having a TV in our bedroom helps me for example. I also carry a book everywhere for quick 5 mins instead of always scrolling my phone. (2)
Books divide opinions; I've got more comfortable with saying when I don't like a book others do. Books are personal! Also, life is too short to carry on with a book you don't enjoy. Give yourself permission to quit and let it go! (3)
And finally, I rotate my books so I'm not always reading the books where I have to think and reflect. After a book on pedagogy, i might read a light hearted fiction, then something for History subject knowledge. All book choices are valid. Just keep reading something! (4)
And sorry about the typos!
