can we talk about the sheer amount of narratives that result in the euthanization of disabled characters at their request because they ‘can’t live that way’? it just happened again in ghost of tsushima and i am tired of seeing it.
these kind of stories may seem harmless at a first glance, but the sheer amount of disabled folk killed by their caretakers out of “pity”, whose caretakers are then hailed as sympathetic figures by the media, really beg to differ
stop giving your characters a disability and then having them demand their deaths. it’s trite, it’s over done, and it contributes to the idea that disabled lives aren’t worth living.
i’m so tired
disabled lives are worth living, come up with something more original than suicide by proxy you hacks.
