On the conspiracy theory that this move to L3/2 is a cynical, planned election ploy:
1. Think about what you're saying about the PM. That's not just disagreeing with her politics, it's saying she's so void of humanity that she'll willingly risk everyone's livelihoods. 1/5

2. It's not smart politics. Another lockdown will hurt Labour politically, as would this getting away on them. They are riding high in the polls, they don't need to risk it. 2/5

3. Think about all the people (with their varied politics) involved in the systems to see this through - they would all need to be on board with such a sinister plot. Do we really not trust every single decision maker in this? 3/5

4. The likelihood of this happening was always high. Getting to 100 days with no community transition was amazing! Looking globally, getting to the election with none would have been miraculous. Look at the rest of the world - this is no surprise. 4/5

5. What's happening is entirely understandable. It is a clear and direct strategy to stop a resurgence of C-19 in New Zealand. You're free to think things could have been handled differently, but believing it's some sort of sinister, cynical, political ploy doesn't hold up. 5/5
