My 2¢ about Star Wars sequel trilogy (3)...The Rise Of Skywalker. Failed in so many ways it’s hard to point out specific points that could turn this into a great movie...
So this thread is more about the poor choices made than the small changes I came through for The Last Jedi:
1. LEIA
Right after the unfortunate Carrie Fisher demise, Lucasfilm quickly stated that they wouldn’t use CGI to recreate Leia, but all the leftover material was nearly unusable as we saw in the final product.
With only those Leia’s scenes, Rey still appears to be learning all by her own, just like she did in every movie before...
And CGI WAS USED afterall to recreate Lea in the flashback scene.
I guess the logical path here was to have used CGI to better fit Leia scenes to the plot. Besides the benefit the story as whole it would free Rose to be elsewhere, like rescuing more children from the Order (possibly with Finn’s assistance).
2 No “Star Wars: Endgame”: the two major scenes that were supposed to be those “wow” moments at the movie theater are too similar to Avengers Endgame: when Lando brings the Resistance fleet (just like the portals scene in Avengers)...
...and the final exchange of words between Palpatine and Rey, “I am all the sith” “and I am all the jedi” (“I am inevitable” “and I am Iron Man”).
Worse, the fleet scene was even spoiled in the trailer, and as for the second one, when Palpatine delivered his line we all knew what was coming...
To be fair, I liked Rey’s lightsaber trigger. And I liked very much Dark Rey’s lightsaber. Would’ve been great to see her going to the dark side with Kylo, with Ashoka bringing her to the “middle” in opposition to Palpatine...
... but that would’ve been a totally different movie, maybe one directed by @Jon_Favreau...
Oh, and as for the epilogue, I would’ve transfered the broom boy scene here, with the difference that he is in the Resistance care now... end credits.
