Saying anything about, “both sides” (of a story) doesn’t make you woke, or mature, or neutral. It’s a direct act of violence to pretend both sides of any story are equally weighed. Start with power structures and work from there.

THREAD:
Did you need to hear the police response before rushing to protest for George Floyd or Elijah McClain?

If yes, f@ck you.

If no, that’s because you recognize who has greater power in that scenario.

The larger the imbalance, the more egregious the crime.
Police killing Black people. Prison guards abusing prisoners. Managers abusing low-wage or undocumented workers. Anyone raping a child. These are egregious because the power imbalance is undeniable.

Others are more subtle.
Imagine how scared, how desperate, a Black gay man would have to be in this moment to call the POLICE, of all people, for help. Do you really need to hear the other side of that story???? What could he have done to ‘deserve’ it?

If yes, f@ck you.
There is no room in the revolution for homophobic dictators. If you are not actively distancing yourself from homophobes, if you are still playing, “both sides” and feigning neutrality, you are acting as the white moderate MLK warned us about.

I am white, but I ain’t moderate.
I am not neutral.

I see power structures that need to be smashed.

I see where I have been, and am, complicit.

I do not follow the motherf@cker with the bullhorn.

If you come for me, you’ll need a stronger weapon than white fragility. I been in this longer than you been alive.
I am white, but I ain’t fragile.

The people I protect ARE fragile. They are coming from a place of trauma. You will not demand compliance or forgiveness on my watch.

I am always watching.

If you ain’t right with Echo, do not try me. I am busy. #denverprotests @AfroFrontCo
Sooooo neither would call the police unless they were desperate.

Apologies, I’m not following your logic here. I want the recent charm offensive out of my inbox, hence the thread.
